LDS Members Are Called To Action

As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we have been called to do all we can to assure that Proposition 8 passes.  We value traditional marriage.  It is a part of our beliefs.

In “The Family A Proclamation To The World,” it states, “The Family is ordained of God.  Marriage between a man and a woman is essential to His eternal plan.  Children are entitled to birth within the bonds of matrimony, and to be reared by a father and a mother who honor marital vows with complete fidelity.  Happiness in family life is most likely to be achieved when founded upon the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Successful marriages and families are established and maintained on principles of faith, prayer, repentance, forgiveness, respect, love, compassion, work, and wholesome recreational activities.”  This document was written in 1995 by the First Presidency and Council of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Traditional Marriage

Today, I went to a traditional marriage.  They are a great couple, a man and a woman.  They made vows with God and with each other.  They began their eternal marriage the right way in the “House of the Lord.”  We celebrated with them as they made these covenants today.  They will continue to celebrate them each and every day.  This is the way marriage needs to be preserved for our future children so that marriage will not become a mockery to the Lord.  He is the designer of this model and we as His children need to be obedient and follow this model He has given to us.

Vote YES on PROP 8 and preserve traditional marriage for all Californians!

Vote YES on Prop 8

I am writing this blog because I 100% believe in preserving traditional marriage–meaning that marriage is between a man and a woman.  That is the way God designed it and that is that way it needs to remain.  If we do not make sure that this proposition passes our way of life will begin to crumble away and we will see our society fall into extinction.

Why do some people want to destroy the very fiber of our society?  Why do some people want us to keep accepting and accepting values that are not worthy of who we are?  This reminds me of the movie, “Fiddler On The Roof,” where Tevye, the main character is confronted with his oldest daughter in accepting a different way of a marriage proposal.  He wants his daughter to be happy and makes up a dream to tell his wife so that she will also be accepting of this idea.  His second daughter comes to him with also another marriage proposal that is also outside of the way of life as they know it.  He gives his blessing to his daughter and sends her off to be with her fiance.  Finally, his third daughter comes to him and asks his blessing for her marriage and he finally says no.  He feels he cannot bend anymore outside his core belief.  This is the way that we should feel.  No more!  We cannot bend any longer to the ways of the world.  We now need to stand up and be counted as to what we most certainly believe in–eternal marriage between a man and a woman.  As it says in the scriptures, “What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.” (Mark 10:9)

I urge all who read this to vote YES on Proposition 8.  If you are not currently registered to vote at your current address please register to vote because we need your vote.  The deadline to register is October 20th.
